I signed up to do something that might be a little crazy earlier today. Most people have asked me "are you crazy?!" or gone "bloody hell" or "is that a good idea" when I've told them (apart from one dear friend who went "when is it i might join you").
I'm going to do the Race for Life in June. And I'm going to do it in my manual wheelchair. And I'm not going to be pushed for any of it. I'm going to do the whole 5K under my own power.
Crazy? Possibly. Difficult? Yes. Worth it? Definitely.

Count me among those who think you must be a bit tetched. It ain't because you will be racing in a wheelchair, either. It's just the whole idea of racing is dreadful to me. I see racers and I think "Look at all those people with expressions of pure agony going by."
But racers insist to me that they actually are having a good time, so maybe I should be more supportive of the sport of high speed distance masochism. Well, then, good luck to you, and I hope you enjoy your training as well as your race, and that you make Oscar Pistorius look pokey.
tbh i see it no differently than anyone else entering race for life and that's "go for it!"
