Quotes for Blogging Against Disablism Day

Being the quote freak I am I couldn't resist finding a few [ok, a lot] quotes to post for BADD. I have more that I want to say but there is the small matter of having to go to bed now my pain meds have kicked in and I feel able to sleep.

So... quotes for now, a Monday Memory on Disablism and maybe some other stuff later (half have something in mind)...

"Disability is a matter of perception. If you can do just one thing well, you're needed by someone."
-- Martina Navratilova

-- Jack London

Smooth seas do not make skillful sailors.

-- African Proverb

Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work: You don't give up.

-- Anne Lamott

Nothing is miserable unless you think it so.

-- Boethius, Consolation of Philosophy

I will no longer take on the fears and insecurities that others have about me.

-- Bryce

Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not. Nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not. Unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not. The world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence, determination and hard work make the difference.
-- Calvin Coolidge

So many of our dreams at first seem impossible. And then they seem improbable. And then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.

-- Christopher Reeve

"Sometimes you wonder if this fight is worthwhile.
The precious moments are all lost in the tide.
They're swept away and nothing is what it seems,
The feeling of belonging to your dreams..."

--Roxette

Wonderful quotes!

I also read your FAQ page - I've suffered with depression, too and am not ashamed to discuss it!

Thanks for taking the time to poste these, I found them very inspirational.

Wonderful. I like that Roxette one at the end - it made me laugh! I'll be humming "Listen To Your Heart" to myself all day now.
