Toy Story!

We went to see Toy Story 3 today and it was great!!  So much fun.

I especially loved the bits where Buzz was stuck in Spanish mode and how keen all the toys were to stay together, so much so that Woody gives up on his opportunity to go to college with Andy and goes with the rest to their new home.  I really liked that this was set as though as much time had passed in the story as has passed since Toy Story 2 came out (which was ten years ago).  They would have had to do a completely different plot if they hadn't done that which would have been similar to those of the original two films.  I don't think it would have been as good.  Been there, done that sort of thing, you know?

Sooo many parts in it cracked me up and had me laughing loads.  And a few bits had me all choked up too.  I've heard that loads of adults have been going and ending up in tears - I didn't go that far and I wasn't really close to tears either but there were a few definite "awww" moments.

We went to the 2d version, I don't like 3d films they make me feel sick.  When we went to see Shrek Forever After a few weeks ago you could tell which bits would be in 3d in that version but you couldn't do that with Toy Story 3

The short at the beginning - Day and Night - was really good as well, subtle and clever and yet still funny.  It's a long time since I've seen a Pixar film and I'd forgotten how cute and fun those are!  A lot of work must go into them, they aren't just an "after thought"

I'm looking forward to the DVD coming out, and I definitely think this film is aimed more at adults then at kids.  Although I'm sure they'd enjoy it just as much.
